Build a Sustainable Dance Practice

Online habit-building course with Kamrah

Do you have practice goals that you want to meet, but can’t seem to get there?

Do you feel like you just can’t find the time to practice?

Are you stuck waiting for motivation to mobilize you into action?

I’ve been there, too. And I found a way out of it.

In the span of a year, I completed multiple levels of certification in DanceCraft, Suhaila Salimpour, and Jamila Salimpour formats, all while working a full-time day job, hustling gigs in the evenings, and teaching dance multiple times a week.

I can help you do the same.

In my Sustainable Practice Course, I provide all the tools, mentorship, and structure you need to define, make progress towards, and exceed your dance goals.

He also has 13 years of experience in a variety of martial arts, including kenpo, jiu-jitsu, karate, and kendo. And finally, he has a scientific research background in molecular biology, biochemistry, and immunology, and presently works as a software developer.

  • Introduction: I am dedicated to guiding serious dancers on their journey towards becoming professional-level performers, both for dancers who are in pursuit of a career, or for recreationalist dancers with ambitious technical and artistic goals. My teaching philosophy revolves around creating a supportive and inspiring environment that fosters technical precision, artistic growth, and a deep understanding of belly dance. I believe in empowering students to develop their unique artistic voices while cultivating the discipline, resilience, and professionalism necessary for serious dancers.

Sustainable dance practice: In addition to guiding serious dancers towards their professional aspirations, I believe in instilling in them the importance of building a sustainable dance practice. Developing a consistent and sustainable practice is vital for long-term growth and success as a dancer. I work closely with students to help them establish practicable habits that promote technical growth, artistic expression, and confidence onstage.

To build a sustainable dance practice, I incorporate goal-setting strategies into my pedagogy. By helping students set realistic and achievable goals, I motivate them to stay committed to their practice. I encourage regular self-reflection and provide guidance on effective practice techniques, time management, and strategies to overcome obstacles. By cultivating a growth mindset and instilling a sense of perseverance, I empower students to overcome challenges and stay dedicated to their dance journey.

By emphasizing the importance of building a sustainable dance practice, I aim to equip serious dancers with the tools they need to thrive not only during their training but throughout their entire dance careers. Through a balanced and mindful approach to practice, dancers can cultivate longevity, maintain their passion for the art form, and continue to grow and evolve as artists.

Moving safely and powerfully: My background in massage therapy enhances my ability to be a well-rounded and effective dance teacher. Understanding the intricacies of the human body and its mechanics allows me to provide insightful guidance to dancers, particularly in areas related to injury prevention, body alignment, and movement efficiency. Through my intimate knowledge of anatomy, I can identify potential areas of tension, muscle imbalances, and postural issues that may impact a dancer's performance and well-being.

Additionally, my background in massage therapy allows me to create a safe and supportive learning environment for dancers. I prioritize open communication and encourage students to share any discomfort or concerns they may experience during their training. By providing individualized attention and adapting teaching methods to meet each dancer's needs, I can help them navigate any physical boundaries or challenges they may face.

Anti-discrimination: Foremost, I model a culture of respect, acceptance, and inclusivity among all students. I strictly enforce a zero-tolerance policy for any form of discrimination or harassment. As a dance teacher, I am committed to creating an inclusive and supportive learning environment that embraces the diverse intersections of identity within my student population. I embrace dancers from all different backgrounds, cultures, abilities, and experiences, and I believe it is crucial to ensure that their unique needs and perspectives are acknowledged and accommodated.

To accommodate the needs of a diverse student base, I prioritize open and respectful communication. I create a safe space where students feel comfortable expressing their identities, sharing their experiences, and voicing any concerns they may have. By actively listening and engaging in dialogue, I aim to understand their specific needs and challenges, cultivating a culture of empathy, understanding, and mutual respect.

I also make it a priority to educate myself on the cultural, historical, and social contexts that shape my students' identities. By seeking knowledge and understanding, I can avoid cultural appropriation, stereotypes, or biases in my teaching approach. This not only enriches their dance education, but also promotes a sense of belonging and validation for students whose identities have been historically underrepresented in the dance world.
